One dead in crash near Eketahuna

The Serious Crash Unit will be investigating after a person was killed north of Eketahuna.

A motorcyclist is dead near Eketahuna after colliding with a vehicle towing a trailer that may have crossed the centreline, police say.

Police investigators are still at the scene of the incident, 5km north of Eketahuna, which happened about 12pm today.

Police say the male motorcyclist was travelling south at the time.

He crashed into the side of the north-bound vehicle, which had crossed the centreline, police say, and he died at the scene

Eketahuna ambulance and fire crews were the first to respond.

Diversions were in place at Bridge St at the southern end of the town, and at North St to the north.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
