One dead in crash in Tasman district

A person has been killed in a crash between a ute and a car in the Tasman District tonight.

Emergency services are at the scene, on Appleby Highway (State Highway 60).

The accident happened on the highway between Bartlett Road and Blackbyre Road, just after 9pm.

"There is no indication at this stage of any other injured people,'' police said.

The highway is now closed and diversions have been put in place. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area, delay travel or expect delays.

The Serious Crash Unit is due to attend the scene.
