One person died, a 3-year-old child was seriously injured and five others suffered moderate injuries after a crash in Karaka this morning.
Police were called to the crash on Linwood Rd, Karaka, about 5.30am.
Counties Manukau Police Inspector Rod Honan said only one vehicle, a taxi van, was involved inthe crash. The 48-year-old woman driving died at the scene.
The child was seriously injured and was taken to Middlemore Hospital.
Five other people were taken to hospital with minor to moderate injuries, he said.
Diversions were in place at the Walters and Blackbridge Rd intersections on Linwood Rd but the road had since been opened.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
