One person is dead and another injured after two cars collided in Manawatu today, police say.
The crash happened at the intersection of Kairanga-Bunnythorpe Road and Roberts Line, about 10km west of Palmerston North, about 6pm.
A 20-year-old man, the sole occupant of the car, died at the scene, Inspector
Marty Parker, of central police communications, told NZPA.
A man in his late 50s in the other vehicle was taken to Palmerston North hospital.
A specialist crash unit was at the scene conducting an investigation.
It was not known if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, Mr Parker said.
