One dead after motorcycle crash north of Auckland

A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash with a car north of Auckland.

Emergency services were called at 5.05pm to the crash, which happened on the Hibiscus Coast Highway around 1km south of Waiwera Rd.

Northern fire communications spokesman Jaron Phillips said fire, police and ambulance are all on the scene.

Cordons are in place at the crash site on Waiwera Hill. Police have asked motorists to take an alternative route to avoid the crash.

Police are contacting the person's next of kin.
