One dead after collision near Mangatawhiri

One person has died after a collision between a car and truck on State Highway 2 near Mangatawhiri, just south of Auckland, tonight.

Teneale Lawerence, St John ambulance communications team leader, confirmed that one person had died and another had minor injuries.

Fire northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the crash occurred just before 10.30 near Koheroa Rd on an onramp which connected to State Highway 2.

Road closures are in place between Koheroa Road and State Highway 2 on the eastern side and State Highway 1 and State Highway 2 on the western side.

Emergency services are still at the scene.
