Save One person has died after a car travelling on State Highway 6 crashed into Manakaiaua River overnight.
Police, fire and ambulance were called to the scene at Manakaiaua River Bridge between Haast and Franz Josef at 12.16am.
The vehicle crashed on the road and into the bridge before entering the
water, said police.
One person died at the scene.
Police and the serious crash unit are investigating.
