One of two alleged burglars who brazenly smashed their way through a Hamilton optometrist's front door has been arrested.
A 37-year-old man is set to appear in the Hamilton District Court today charged with burglary.
Police are still looking for a second man captured on Bell Neuhauser & Matthews Optometrist'sCCTV.
Detective Sergeant William Loughrin said a "significant amount" of the stolen sunglasses was also recovered from a Hamilton property.
The man still being sought by police is described as being Caucasian and in his 40s with tattoos on his right ankle to below his right knee and tattoos on his left leg from his ankle to upper thigh.
Business co-owner Anna Megaffin estimates about $8000 of stock was taken, while several more thousand dollars worth of damage was done in the raid.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the pair standing outside the front of the shop on Anglesea St, peering through the front window for about a minute before taking off.
The pair then return with a large rock and throw it at the front door. Because of the strength of the glass, the rock had to be thrown four times before the glass smashed.
Only one of the men entered the shop. He then focused on sunglass stands in the front reception area of the store. Thirty-two pairs were taken.

Megaffin said it was heartbreaking turning up to the business on Saturday night to find glass strewn inside and outside the premises and many pairs of sunglasses taken.
"It's heartbreaking when you're trying to build a practice that gives a high level of service and quality product and for people to come and mess with your livelihood is a bit devastating."

She's now urging people to keep an eye out for cheap sunglasses being sold on Trade Me or social media. The brands stolen were Bill Bass, Gant, Guess, Mercedes, Tag Heuer, Oroton, Adidas, Anne Klein, Nike Jaguar, Sass and Bide and Porsche.
