One man was arrested and another hospitalised after reports of a hammer attack in north Auckland that put a suburban street in lockdown.
Armed police cordoned off Camrose Place in Glenfield, on Auckland's North Shore, about 10am today after a man was assaulted.
It was initially understood that the man was assaulted with a hammer.
The property and surrounding streets were put on lockdown and swarmed by the armed offenders squad, who eventually arrested a 53-year-old man more than two hours after the incident began.

The man was charged with charged with assault and threatening behaviour and will appear in the North Shore District Court on June 2.
One male patient was transported to North Shore Hospital in a moderate condition, and was in a stable condition late yesterday.
Police were investigating the circumstances of the incident.
