An overview of the 2013 Wairarapa-Bush premier division club rugby season will be held at a meeting of coaches and managers in Masterton next Wednesday evening.
And it can't come soon enough for WBRFU council of clubs chairman Tim Nathan, who says possible changes to the rules and formatof the competition will be discussed in what he hopes is an "open and frank" manner.
"This is the chance to have a meaningful debate on what has to happen to make our premier competition operate better, and we need to make the most of it," Nathan said.
"There are a lot of things which are a concern and it will be good to clear the air."
A highlight of the meeting will be a report by WBRFU chief executive officer Tony Hargood that will likely include recommendations which, if accepted, would see radical changes made to the competition format next season.
"He (Hargood) thinks outside the square and it's going to be really interesting to see what he comes up with," Nathan said.
"We can't keep going with what we've got; it's just not working."
Part of Wednesday's discussions is also likely to centre on the unusually high number of defaults in premier division play this season with special emphasis being placed on what should occur when the defaulting team fields a senior thirds side on the same day.
