A swimming scare in Napier and an unexpected rescue in Northland are just two of the stories making headlines around the regions today.
Four unsupervised children under the age of seven frightened locals in Hawke's Bay when they were spotted taking a dip at a notoriously dangerous Napierbeach.
After an argument, an upset crew member leapt off a commercial fishing boat with his belongings in a black plastic rubbish bag - and ended up having to be rescued by another crew member.
