NZ man charged with sex crimes in Vanuatu

Wellington backpacker lodge owner James Quin has been arrested in Vanuatu on charges including rape of a male.

Quin, 56, is on bail and due to appear in court in Port Vila on Thursday on charges of raping an 18-year-old youth, threatening behaviour, possession of cannabis and possession of pornography.

His yacht Marie Chantal, on which the offences were alleged to have happened, has been impounded.

Quin owns Rowena's Lodge in Brougham St, Mt Victoria.

He has vowed to fight the charges.
