Northland truck crash claims one

One person has died in a serious truck crash in Northland this morning.

Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash on State Highway 1 north of Ruakaka, 30km south of Whangarei, about 7.30am.

One person died and two others were seriously injured. The injured people were in serious but stable conditions.

Police said the circumstances of the crash were still being investigated.

SH1 was completely blocked and diversions were in place.

Traffic was being diverted through Paparoa to Maungaturoto, via SH12, before returning to SH1 just south of the Brynderwyn Hills.
