The 22-year-old cyclist who died after it's believed he was clipped by a logging truck was Thunder Meshuck Heta.
He was biking on a stretch of State Highway 1 near Towai when he was hit about 6.15am on Monday.
The truckie stopped and found Heta, of Towai, in a drainon the southbound side of the highway.
Police were gathering together all the reports and vehicle inspections before making a final decision on whether charges would be laid.
