Government MPs have decided to vote against an attempt to Monday-ise Waitangi and ANZAC days.
MPs had a busy night last night debating member's bills - but didn't get to a vote on the first reading of Labour's David Clark bill, with debate interrupted.
The bill would make Monday a public holiday if Waitangi or ANZAC day falls on a weekend.
Mr Clark says all Kiwis are entitled to their 11 public holidays every year and the cost is tiny.
National's David Bennett says the next time both holidays fall on a weekend is 2021 and for that reason the Government will oppose it.
