A Hamilton teen swept out in a rip off a Raglan beach remains missing.
It's been five days since Cory Edgecombe Lilley, 17, was last seen swimming with his friends at Ngarunui Beach on Thursday afternoon.
His friend Oscar Luttrell, also 17, said the last time he saw his friendhe was in knee deep water, but still struggling to battle the strength of the waves.
Waikato police this morning confirmed they had still not located Cory's body but that the searches would continue.
The Trust Waikato Raglan Surf Life Saving Club posted on Facebook that it had put in about 250 man-hours of searching using two beach vehicles, up to three IRBs along with staff scanning the shore with binoculars.
"The Police SAR squad are continuing searches using Police Helicopters and Coastguard Air Patrol aircraft from Auckland in the early part of this week and will tweak the search taskings and techniques as the week progresses.
"Normal beach activities will slowly resume at Ngarunui Beach as time goes on, but we are really hoping some closure can be had by the family and friends of the young man," they wrote.
