It could be a month before Heartland Wairarapa decide whether they will take up the invitation to contest the ASB national youth football league in 2014.
HW board member Phil Keinzley said yesterday it would largely depend on financial considerations and the long-term plans of Football New Zealand forthe national premiership league.
"We need to do due diligence on what the costs will be and what the national body has in mind for us," he said.
"It's the premiership which is the main goal and we need to have the confidence of knowing that we have a good chance of making it in the next season or two."
Heartland Wairarapa had bid to play in the 2013-14 premiership but lost out when Football New Zealand elected to drop YoungHeart Manawatu and replace them with the national under-20s.
Wairarapa United have drawn Miramar Rangers in the next round of the national knockout competition, the Chatham Cup.
