An unemployed Lower Hutt man who allegedly assaulted a 25-year-old man, leaving him in a serious condition in intensive care, entered no plea when he appeared in Wellington District Court this morning.
Ioritana Tuau, 20, is charged with assault over the incident in Tory St, central Wellington, last Thursday.
Policesaid a 25-year-old Kapiti man and two others were assaulted about 3.50am. The man suffered serious head injuries and remains in Wellington Hospital's intensive care unit.
Tuau, who stood in the dock with close-cropped hair and a dark grey hoodie, entered no plea.
He was remanded on bail until October 5 with conditions including not drinking alcohol and a curfew from 9pm to 7am.
Police are still seeking two people he was seen with in the Tory St area at the time of the incident, both Pacific Island men aged in their early to mid 20s.
One was of medium to solid build, about 1.82m tall, with brown spiky hair and a tribal tattoo on his right arm. He was wearing dark blue or black jeans, a blue or green T-shirt and white shoes.
