No leads on missing Indian student

Police have no new leads in the search for missing Indian student Mandeep Singh and will consider putting divers into the water tomorrow.

The 20-year-old culinary arts student from India was out with three flatmates before they lost contact with him in the Bungalow 8 nightclub at Auckland's Viaduct Harbour about 3am on Sunday.

At a press conference today, police said there were no new leads and they were still appealing for more sightings of Mr Singh.

They will consider putting divers into the water at the Viaduct Harbour tomorrow.

Police are continuing to review CCTV footage to establish Mr Singh's movements.

They say his disappearance is out of character and they are not considering foul play at this stage.

Mr Singh's boss and owner of Café Melba in Vulcan lane, Shawn Pope, said contrary to earlier reports that the student was rostered to work on Sunday, he wasn't actually due in for a shift till later this week.

He said the first they heard of his disappearance was through the authorities and the media.

While he didn't want to comment too much on the disappearance, everyone at the cafe was worried and they were all hoping for his safe return.
