She said her daughter "was doing very well" but was still shaken by the incident.
"It's all sort of a dream to be honest, we're very lucky she is here."
Operations manager for the Moose Bar Andrew Geldlard said he would not be making any comment as the matter was before the courts.
Meanwhile, police were still unsure as to what triggered the assault, a police spokesman said.
Yesterday police said early reports that the stabbing was the result of a fight were incorrect.
Today, the spokesman said statements were being taken from witnesses, which would help to form part of the police investigation.
"As the matter is now before the courts, police will be making no further comment in regards to this incident."
A 40-year-old woman from Te Anau has been arrested and charged with wounding with intent in relation to the assault, a police spokesman said.
She was due to appear at the Invercargill District Court today.
