Charges were laid yesterday against an Invercargill go-kart company over the accident on March 9 that left city schoolboy Roger McKernan with third-degree burns.
Occupational Safety and Health Southland service manager John Pannett said charges had been laid against Jennifer Ladbrook, trading as Kart City, under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
Roger, 13, was strapped into the kart he was driving. When it flipped, he could not escape flash-fire burns to his face, neck, hands and arms.
He has undergone extensive skin graft surgery in Auckland.
