The Australian Government has yet to give its support to transtasman flights beginning from July 1, Foreign Minister Winston Peters says.

The timetable of Wellington to Canberra flights would be more up to the Australian Government than the New Zealand Government, Peters said.

Restrictions remain on interstate flights in Australia, he added.

"We're waiting for a response from their federal government."

He said it should have happened yesterday, "but we're dependent on Australia".
