Armed police have descended on a street in New Plymouth in response to an incident involving a firearm this afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said officers were responding to a firearms incident at an address on Bedford St in the seaside suburb of Fitzroy, New Plymouth.
A firearm had not been
discharged, she said. The address had been cordoned off while police responded.
The Armed Offenders Squad was there as a precaution, she said.
