Congestion building on Auckland motorways with crashes slowing commuters

Congestion is building on Auckland's city bound motorway routes this morning with crashes adding to the delays.

Auckland Transport said a crash had blocked the right lane on Gt North Rd northbound, prior to the SH16 motorway interchange in Waterview.

The site had been cleared but there was congestion from Rata St in New Lynn.

At 7.30am the NZ Transport Agency said congestion was heavy in patches on all motorways.

There were some extra delays on the Southern Motorway citybound after Princes St due to another crash this morning.

Northern Motorway

Citybound: Moderate to heavy at times between Constellation Dr and Onewa Rd.

Northbound: Free flowing.

Southern Motorway

Citybound: Heavy between Drury and Takanini and heavy in patches from Te Irirangi Dr to Greenlane.

Southbound: Free flowing.

Northwestern Motorway

Citybound: Heavy between Hobsonville Rd and Lincoln Rd and then heavy again from Great North Rd.

Westbound: Free flowing.

Waterview Tunnel Southbound Free flowing.

Southwestern Motorway

Southbound: ​Queues for the Southern Link.

Northbound: Heavy through Cavendish Dr.

Waterview Tunnel Northbound​ Free flowing.
