A Papakura home is badly fire-damaged and an investigator is probing the cause after the early morning blaze.

Six fire crews were initially battling the well-involved house fire at Red Hill, near Papakura this morning.

Fire and Emergency received multiple calls to Ariki Pl, a cul-de-sac in Papakura shortly after 7am.

Nobody was trapped or injured.

Support crew were also called in to fight the fire, which Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Brent Dunn said was "well ablaze".

At 9.15am Dunn confirmed the fire had been doused, and just one crew remained at the scene.

A fire investigator and police were at the scene, but it was unclear what may have caused the fire, he said.

"The house has been severely damaged."
