The man accused of killing Anthony Hallmond in the Waikato town of Te Awamutu last year has had his murder charge dropped.
Storm Te Huia, 47, who appeared in the High Court at Hamilton on Tuesday, now faces three charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, aggravated assault and wounding with intent to cause injury.
Hallmond, 35, was found on the footpath outside a North St property after an alleged altercation between the two men on the evening of July 23.
Justice Sarah Katz further remanded Te Huia in custody to reappear for a one-week jury trial starting on June 18.
