Motorists are being asked to be patient as holiday traffic mounts on highways across the country.
Delays are increasing southbound on State Highway 1 through Kawakawa, Whangarei and Warkworth, according to the NZ Transport Agency.
"We expect traffic to remain heavy until this afternoon, so be patient and allow extra
time," the agency has tweeted
Delays are also expected on SH2 in both directions through Katikati and on SH25 in both directions through Tairua.
The agency said traffic through these areas was expected to remain heavy.
