An investigation is under way to determine how a 10-tonne crane fell on to a Papamoa house under construction this morning.
McLeod Cranes director Scott McLeod said an outrigger to one of his cranes went through a soak hole on a construction site at Coast Boulevard about 8.30am.
"That is the simple explanation," he said.
"We have got to work through the process to determine what happened and why, but it is early days."
Mr McLeod said the only damage to the house was a broken truss in the entranceway.
