One person has been cut from their vehicle following a two-car crash north of Christchurch this afternoon.

The crash happened in Northbrook Rd, Rangiora, shortly before 1pm.

Two fire crews that attended the scene had to use cutting gear to assist one of the occupants from their vehicle.

A police spokeswoman said both vehicles sustained "significant damage" and required towing, but there were no indications of serious injury.
