No one has been found unconscious after reports of three stricken people lying in an Auckland downtown carpark stairwell.
A major emergency unfolded at a downtown Auckland carpark this morning with firefighters searching for people overcome by unknown fumes in a parking building.
Senior station fire officer Gary Lane said from the scene said crew were sent in wearing breathing apparatus but did not find anyone unconscious or otherwise harmed.
Emergency services were now leaving and were treating the incident as a false alarm, Lane said.
The Fire Service said they were initially investigating reports of a strange smell and three unconscious people inside the building's stairwell.
