One of the victims of a fatal car crash in Gore has been released from hospital and another is in a stable condition.
Detective Dougall Henderson said the scene examination of yesterday's crash on Old Coach Rd involving a campervan and a station wagon had been completed today.
The passenger in the campervan - a 52-year-old woman from the North Island - died at the scene.
The driver of the campervan - a 42-year-old woman also from the North Island - was released from Southland Hospital this afternoon and the sole occupant of the station wagon - a 78-year-old Southland man - remained in a stable condition in Dunedin Hospital.
It was too early to determine the cause of the crash, he said.
Contact the police on 03 211 0400 if you saw a late model gold coloured Peugeot station wagon travelling north or a white 'Apollo' Toyota Hiace campervan travelling south around the time of the crash, witnessed the crash or arrived soon after.
