Kapiti District councillor David Scott will appear in Porirua District Court tomorrow charged with indecent assault.
The 71-year-old was arrested and charged following a complaint made against him.
It was alleged he pressed himself against a female co-worker after a meeting at the council's headquarters in Paraparaumu last month.
A woman who answered his cellphone tonight said: "We can't make any comment at the moment."
Kapiti Mayor K Gurunathan had no comment.
Scott told the Herald last month allegations that he'd pressed himself against the woman after the meeting were "hurtful" and he did not recall such an incident.
He said at the time he only knew of the alleged incident from the mayor and chief council executive.
"Evidently they said I squeezed past and made contact."
"If my hands were anywhere in that region as I went past, it would have been to defend myself.
"It's my reputation at stake, it's all been blown, really.
"I've always respected women, my 71 years of life I have never had any calls. Nothing else has happened in my life."
