Four men armed with baseball bats stole ice cream from a Christchurch dairy last night, police say.
The men entered a dairy on Division St in Riccarton, Christchurch just after 9pm. At least two of them had baseball bats and had their faces covered.
The shop attendant used a fire extinguisher to protect himself and no one was injured.
Police enquiries into the aggravated robbery are ongoing.
In another incident last night, two 20-year-old men have been arrested after breaking into a service station in Leeston, south of Christchurch.
Police received reports around 2am of four men smashing a window and entering the gas station on High Street.
The men fled on foot and police and a dog tracked the men to an address in Station St, just around the corner, where police found items from the burglary.
It is not known if the two incidents are connected.
