Police say they have concerns for an elderly Nelson man who was due to arrive in Westport today, but has not been seen.

Leslie Martin, 82, was due to be at a relative's house, in Westport, earlier today.

However, he has failed to arrive and family members reported him missing at 8pm.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have seen the elderly man to contact authorities.


Tasman District Command Centre Senior Sergeant Clare Robertson said: "We are asking the public to keep their eyes open for Mr Martin.''

Martin was travelling in a 2014 blue Holden Trax - an SUV with the registration: HTY668.

He is described as being 185cm tall, of medium build and with silver/ grey hair.

He also walks with a limp due to having a bad hip, police said.
