Five people have been injured, one seriously, after a two-car crash in Christchurch this morning.

St John Ambulance tweeted the crash happened in Dawson and Jones roads at 8.20am.

Three ambulances ferried the injured to Christchurch Hospital.

One was in a serious condition and four had moderate injuries.

A police spokeswoman said the two cars collided in Templeton.

The five injured were in one car.

The driver of that vehicle was seriously injured but the driver of the second car was unhurt.
