A child is believed to have been seriously injured during a fall near Te Anau.

Southern Lakes Helicopters were called to the incident at 6.10pm.

A spokeswoman understood it was a child that was injured. They were flown to Dunedin Hospital for treatment.

The spokeswoman was unable to give the exact location of where the fall occurred.
