A man who pulled a gun on a police officer is still on the run.
Police allege Hayden Rizvi pointed a firearm at an officer who was chasing him on foot yesterday.
The 25-year-old is alleged to have stolen a car from Selwyn St, in Onehunga, when he was spotted by a police officer, who chased him.
Auckland City Inspector Jacqui Whittaker said this morning: "We are still actively searching for Hayden Rizvi and continue to appeal for him to hand himself in.''
As the officer chased Rizvi, he is alleged to have stopped before pointing a gun in the officer's face.
Whittaker said earlier the officer was unhurt, but shaken and was now being supported.
"Having a gun pointed in your face should not be seen as being just part of the job,'' Whittaker said.
"I am appealing to Hayden Rizvi to give yourself up. Have some form of dignity and come to us.''
Rizvi is about 180cm tall. He is described as a Caucasian and of thin build. He has links to the Porirua / Wellington areas and is thought to have no fixed home in Auckland.
