A burst water main on Auckland's Mt Wellington Highway is causing delays for motorists.
Auckland Transport sent out a tweet about 2pm that warned drivers.
"Due to a burst water-main Mt Wgtn Hwy (Otahuhu) is CLOSED between New Brighton Rd & Meadow St. Detour in place, long delays in area."
Auckland Transport spokesman Mark Hannan said delays "weren't as bad" as they were around 2pm, and Watercare was "now in a position to open one of the lanes".
"Traffic is not too bad at the moment, most people have found other ways to get around it."
Watercare confirmed at 4.30pm the southbound lane had been re-opened.
"Repairs are expected to be completed by early evening and then the road will be resealed later tonight. Water has been shut off while the work is done and Watercare has put steps in place to ensure a small number of people affected are receiving a water supply."
