Emergency services are on the way to a car crash in Waione, where at least one person may still be trapped in the vehicle.

A Fire Service shift manager said fire crews from Dannevirke and Pongaroa were responding to the one-vehicle crash on route 52.

He said the information they had was that people were still trapped in the car, but he could not confirm yet if it was actually more than one person.
