A car sought in relation to a fatal house fire in Auckland last night has been found.
A person was found dead in the house at Rainford St, Mt Roskill, and investigations are continuing today into the cause of death.
Police this afternoon announced they are searching for a Red Honda Fit hatchback as part of the investigation.
At 5.30pm it was announced to have been found it parked on a street in the suburb.
Detective Inspector Scott Beard said earlier today the car is a Red 2003 Honda Fit Hatchback, registration GHL181.
He said then that it was likely to be in the Mt Roskill area but might also be further away in Auckland.
"Locating the vehicle will help piece together events of last night in regards to the fatal fire," he said then.
"If anyone has seen this car or knows of its whereabouts we'd like to hear from you as soon as possible.
"The investigation is in its early stages and the cause of the fire and the death remain unexplained at this stage."
After the car was found, a police spokeswoman said "enquiries were ongoing".
The victim's identity was not yet able to be released, he said.
If anyone has seen the car they are urged to contact Auckland Crime Squad on 09 302 6557 or to provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
