A woman has appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning accused of abandoning two young children, eight years apart.
Yuiuo Qin, 34, today pleaded guilty to abandoning her 14-month-old daughter in September 2007 and then in August this year, abandoning a 4-year-old boy.
She also admitted three charges of obtaining by deception, through her lawyer, Michael Kan.
Qin, who is unlawfully in New Zealand and has had a removal served on her, was remanded in custody until sentencing early next.
Kan told the court Qin was "highly likely to be deported" and so an immigration report didn't need to be prepared.
Qin, who stood in the dock in an orange top and camel-coloured jacket, was supported in court by a man holding an infant - twice throughout the proceedings she turned and winked at the pair.
She will reappear at the Auckland District Court in February to be sentenced.
