A woman was thrown from the back of a 4WD ute when it rolled on an Auckland beach.
The woman, in her 20s, was riding in the back of the ute when it rolled on Kariotahi beach shortly before 5pm Thursday.
Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene, just north of the Kariotahi Surf Club.
A spokeswoman said the woman lost consciousness in the accident.
"She had been knocked out for a brief period of time.
"The patient was then flown to Middlemore Hospital in a moderate condition, suffering shoulder and neck pain."
Photos show emergency services converged on the beach, with the helicopter and ambulance crews in attendance, as well as police.
Kariotahi beach is about 70km southwest of the Auckland CBD.
