It's likely to be another cracker of a day for much of the country, but Niwa is predicting next week will get a bit wild.

Meteorologist Ben Noll says the end of next week could be winter's last hurrah, and "warm, wet, windy and wild" weather is set to hit the country.

But today, Auckland is set to reach a high of 15C. The odd shower is likely north of the city in the morning and evening, with a southeast breeze, according to the MetService.

Tomorrow, the city can expect cloudy periods and a few showers in the north, a southeast breeze and a high of 15C.

Hamiltonians can expect sun today, and a high of 15C. The temperature is set to go up a notch to 16C tomorrow, with a touch of cloud.

It will be mostly sunny in Tauranga today, with a few afternoon cloudy periods and a high of 15C. Weather in the city will be much the same tomorrow, according to the MetService.

And today Wellington should be sunny, with light winds and a high of 13C. Tomorrow the capital can expect fine spells, with northerlies developing and a high of 14C.
