A New Zealand army captain is facing Court Martial for failing to secure two pistols and later lying about his actions.
The captain will go before the tribunal at Linton Military Camp on August 23, the NZ Defence Force confirmed today.
The force would not name the officer before the
hearing but has released details of the allegations they face.
The captain is accused of negligently failing to perform a duty contrary to armed forces legislation for failing to secure two service pistols in Palmerston North, between November 19 and 24 last year.
They are also accused of doing an act likely to prejudice service discipline for falsely claiming during initial inquiries they secured the pistols in a "secure server room", when they knew that wasn't true.
