A post mortem examination will be carried out this afternoon in a bid to identify a person found dead at Okahu Bay yesterday - and establish how they died.
A member of the public found the body in in Auckland's Orakei Reserve off Tamaki Drive yesterday morning.
The body, which was decomposing, was found in a dense area of bush.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Newman told the Herald that a post mortem was scheduled for 2pm today.
"We are hoping to understand what has occurred," he said.
"In the meantime, police will continue to follow up lines of inquiry in an effort to identify the person."
Newman said he would likely have more information about the person and how they died later today.
