Six people are in hospital following a serious crash near Taupo involving three vehicles.
The accident happened just before 7am on the corner of Anzac Memorial Drive and State Highway 1 in the suburb of Wharewaka, near the Taupo Airport.
One person had to be cut free by firefighters.
Bay of Plenty District Command Centre Senior Sergeant Karl Konlechner said the crash was opposite the Five Mile Bay recreational reserve on SH1, just outside Taupo.
Mr Konlechner said one of the cars rolled, and police were there now conducting a scene examination and interviewing everyone who was involved.
St John Ambulance took six people to hospital, including one with serious injuries and two with moderate injuries.
