A man has died after being struck by a train on the North Island main trunk line at Taihape.
Police said they were currently at the scene where a male pedestrian had been struck by a train in the early hours of this morning.
He later died from his injuries.
The circumstances surrounding how he came to be on the train tracks were being investigated.
No roads have been closed however people were being advised to check with KiwiRail for any delays to train services.
