A man trying to steal cash from ATMs has been using sheets and a closed sign to hide his devious scheme from prying eyes.
Police said the man had specifically targeted ATMs behind doors across Auckland's North Shore.
He strikes early in the morning by hanging drop sheets in the
window to make it appear as if maintenance work is being completed.
Detective Sergeant Craig Taylor of the Waitemata police tactical crime unit is urging anyone who sees or passes an ATM area covered with a sheet and a closed sign to contact police immediately, especially if it is outside of business hours.
"We are also keen to hear about any suspicious person or persons seen loitering around ATM areas or someone carrying sheets who matches the man in the photos provided."
