Woman injured after falling on rocks on Takapuna beach

A woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after she fell on rocks walking along a popular North Shore beach this afternoon.

A St John spokeswoman said a woman had injured herself on rocks at the northern end of Takapuna beach.

A member of the public raised the alarm shortly before 1pm today after seeing her take a tumble.

The Fire Service was called to help lift her from where she fell.

The woman was taken to nearby North Shore Hospital for treatment.
