A man being sought by police after a lone officer was shot at has been arrested.
Police had been hunting for Patrick Dixon, 30, after the shooting in the South Auckland suburb of Manurewa just before 4am on Wednesday.
The lone officer was not hurt in the incident, but the officer's police vehicle was riddled with shotgun holes.
Police this morning said Dixon was arrested after a search warrant was carried out at a Cambridge address.
Armed Offenders Squad officers helped in the arrest.
Dixon has been charged with two counts of using a firearm against a law enforcement officer. He will appear in Manukau District Court this morning.
He also faces a number of unrelated charges.
Police thanked members of the public who helped during the ongoing investigation.
